Partnering has the important benefit of pooling resources of expertise, finances, manpower, infrastructure, and several other resources, thereby accomplishing synergies. Public agencies bring the expertise of training and technical assistance related to education about HIV, epidemiology of the disease, and knowledge of evidence-based interventions. Private partners like nonprofit organizations bring skills and resources related to advocacy, innovative ideas for awareness generation, relationships with community entities, and access to target populations; corporations and industry can bring important financial resources. Businesses can enter into public or private partnerships to pursue any combination of the five components of the Business Responds to AIDS/Labor Responds to AIDS (BRTA/LRTA) program.
